Cypher in a Towel

The recent New Mutant scans that Arion sent got a lot of great feedback so here are some more Cypher eye candy! In New Mutants Vol. 1 #53, Doug has a horrible nightmare in which he becomes Warlock and Warlock turns into the new Magus. That's a pretty weird dream. What's even weirder is that Doug has it while he's in the shower! Not that I'm complaining, since this gives us several panels of Doug beefcake.

Well, if he's having trouble staying awake, I would gladly volunteer to help him stay occupied in the shower! ;)

This is before he gets dirty with his old classmate Jennifer from the Massachusetts Academy, isn't it?

Poor Cypher had many worries in his mind those days (what with Warlock gone and feeling useless in battle). Stavros wanted to get a dose of the Dougster all for herself (not that I blame her).

Yeah, this is from the "Party at the Hellfire Club" story. Doug is so down in the issue there are many reasons to give him a hug. On the other hand, him getting drunk and then royally hungover (and Sam's treatment for same) is awesome!
@DAN, you're naughty, he's a teenager! lol

@César, I'm not familiar with Jennifer storyline, I must confess that I haven't really read much of New Mutants Vol. 1. Most of what I know about it is from issue summaries from uncannyxmen.net

@Arion, I wish you luck in finding a copy.

@icon-uk, yeah, from what I gathered, poor Doug seemed to be down most of the time. Now that he's back among the living, I hope he'll find happiness and hooks up with Rahne soon!

@Icon: The sad part is, the one person who was willing to be there for him (and who would also need to be hugged back) is the one who got the big jerk attitude from Doug (someone smack him in the head, please). Of course, he was feeling awful himself (but still, he was a jerk, LOL).

@Everyone: The Hellfire Club party story was the last one from Claremont's run, I believe. It's a great read. I love Louise's stories, but there is a definite change of direction and pace.

@Arion: Most of my collection I got from an old issue rack on a trip to Canada. While I know a trip from end to end of the continent is not that easy to do, perhaps someone could help track it for you. I got my collection somewhat cheap (missing the graphic novel).

@Pandesal - I'm not THAT old, plus the age of consent is like 16 or 17 where I'm at, and NO, I don't live in hillbilly country either. I haven't gotten around to dating someone 10 years younger than myself yet, but I might try it out someday... ;)

@Cesar - I liked Louise's X-Factor run, but she ruined New Mutants for me with her killing off Doug & turning Magik back into a kid, I still hold a grudge against her for her awful treatment of the New Mutants and won't read anything by her. Her husband Walt Simonson is awesome however, and I read most everything by him, his Thor run is the BEST! :)

@Dan: Not even Power Pack by Louise? There is a short PP story in the "recent" Girl Comics mini I found cute.

I'd love her to write an updated PP, with the kids in their current ages (as much as one can like the Marvel Ages PP, it is not THE Power Pack). I'd like to see her write the older Jack and Katie.

@Cesar - Nope, never thought much of Power Pack, I tried reading it but I couldn't get past the whole concept of kids that young being superheroes. Teens as protagonists are about as young as I accept in comics.

@Dan: Oh, it's sad to hear that. I think her Power Pack stories were better than her NM ones.

@Cesar, yeah I know it's shallow, but I don't have the budget to like and read everything, I simply must find reasons to not like things, shallow or not, lol! ;)

@Dan: I read you!

I got a big reduction on my budget for comic books last year.

I went from spending like $550 a month to around $55 a month to the current $0...

I hope I will be able to buy at least a few comics again.

@Cesar - I usually spend about $50-$100 a month and usually stick to TPBs to be more economical. Thanks to the various .cbr posting groups out there it's easy to preview and see what things I find purchase worthy.
@DAN, I was just kidding about you being naughty for wanting to shower with Doug. For, me its okay to lust after fictional teenagers. lol

@Pandesal, I knew you were kidding, just saying it's technically possible in real life too, LOL! Watch out boys, here I come! (I kid, I kid!) ;)
