Nightwing: "Ric" Grayson in Undies

Nightwing #50 features the controversial storyline in which an amnesiac Dick Grayson goes by the name "Ric". He barely remembers his past as Nightwing, joining underground fight clubs & breaking in to peoples homes to hang out in his underwear. Pretty art though.

My theory is that Ric's afraid to remember.

Think about it:

Loses his parents at 8, proceeds to murder those responsible. (Yeah, in the 40s, Robin was hardcore.)
Spends the next 7 years as a child soldier in some billionaire's personal war on crime, only ending that because he aged out of that category.
Starts his own child soldier program. The Justice League sends some lobotomized rapist after them for practice.
And he's out on the highest, narrowest pedestal by the League.
Has a brother and a boyfriend who die, come back from the dead, and are a reminder of everything fucked up about his life up to this point. (Jason just wanted to be avenged, but Joey? Joey pointed out the obvious.)
Raped by two different women.
Watched his apartment explode.
Oh, and he was supposed to be an assassin.

And he's the happy one, so saith Tumblr.
Interesting theory. I haven't read the newer issues but it appears that he is being groomed to be a Talon & they are responsible for the amnesia.

I know, but a boy can dream.

I do want to see his horrified expression when he does remember,

"Yeah, even I can't believe I went from overly serious prude to hedonistic thot in the early aughts."

"My sister isn't toxic. Scott Lobdell is toxic."

"A spy? Really? Also, #MeToo times a thousand."

"Why are my brother and my best friend raping my ex?" (See why I want this timeline antimatter'd?)

"The Midnighter. Just. I have a better frenemy, Slade. And a better gay love interest, his son."

"When did Vic found all the teams? And why is he not a Titan? Seriously, I miss his being my conscience."

"Tim, if these names are an elaborate scheme to get me to let you be Robin again, I swear to God..."
