Jason Bard's Naked Meeting

Here's some gratuitous nudity featuring a member of Batman's supporting cast. No it's not Alfred, its Jason Bard, former Gotham City police officer turned private investigator (and Barbara Gordon's ex-boyfriend). In Detective Comics #818, Batman show up in his apartment unannounced to hire Jason, who at the time was in his birthday suit (presumably after doing the nasty with one of his clients). These Bat-scans were brought to you by Terry.

P.I.'s are usually portrayed as having affairs with clients in fiction, wonder if it's actually true in real life? ;) Also Jason looks hot and interesting enough to warrant at the very least his own mini-series.
Yeah, I barely know anything about him. If he doesn't get his own miniseries, I hope he makes appearances on Birds of Prey. It would be nice to see him interact with his ex, Babs.

I sort of remember him now from early issues of Birds of Prey vol.1, he looked a bit different though as the "lighting" was different in those issues. He's been around for a while, but hasn't had much done with him story wise, he's always stuck in somewhat minor supporting roles. It's a shame, I wish he would have had a major role in the Gotham Central series, he would have fit in nicely and brought a little more sex appeal to it. Maybe a mini or ongoing attempt will happen someday.
Yeah, they definitely could have used him in Gotham Central. Harvey Bullock isn't exactly beefcake material. He could have also been in the recently canceled Streets of Gotham.

Well DC is like the premiere publisher of missed opportunities after all! LOL ;)

Yeah, but that depends on Babs having boyfriends other than Dick. If Ted Kord didn't have his own title, I guarantee he'd be in the same limbo.

With Dick, it's different. First, Starfire had a significantly larger fan base, so they exaggerate her negative qualities (She has no problem killing? Absolutely hates the Gordanians for what they did to her? Have her trick the Titans into committing genocide. Lovely. I thought genocidal types were Roy's thing.) and rely on sexist stereotypes (skimpy clothes mean thot, not possibly jungle environment). See why I call her Emmanuel Goldskin? Meanwhile, because Dick (discussing Roy's genocidal love interest) admitted to Roy he couldn't just sleep with someone, give him a whole history of women we've never heard of before, including sleeping with Babs while engaged. (This from a man uncomfortable with sleeping with a married woman, when in her culture it's okay with stipulations, and they'd been sleeping together for months before her betrothal.) The difference? Part sexist double standards, and part trying to turn other relationships into a fraud in Dick's part. Shit, I'm surprised Dick didn't tell Tim "Miriam Delgado. Best thing to ever happen to me. Well, enjoy, meu irmão!"

To top it off, make it seem like Dick and Barbara were always in love, despite "always" being when he was 13. She even says she "waited too long" when she sees Kory (who acts like a bitch because of course she does). Um ackshually for the last year he was working for you in Congress. And before that he was a minor.

See why I hate retcons?

I'm not even sure Jason Bard exists in the New 52. I mean, Kory is paired off with Jason and Roy, who suddenly became smarmy frat boys. Huntress is now "like M, but with more femdom and queerbaiting".

They change Jason around.

Jason Classic: Nebbishy PI with a truck knee from Nam.

Dixon's Jason: Douchebag who seems to be there primarily as a straw boyfriend. Indicates more about Dixon's attitude toward women than anything.

DickBats era: Dick just doesn't like Jason, a far cry from the 70s when he really didn't care. (For contrast, the only other character Dick just doesn't like for no reason in particular is Green Arrow, and given that apparently he wanted to molest eight-year-old Robin, I can see why.) No trick knee.

New 52: Still a douche. And I'm wondering why Chuck Dixon is so fetishists by the fan base.
